PFW Hits The Road: London edition

THE EYES HAVE IT - London's iconic Big Ben bell/clock tower and Parliament building, as seen from the London Eye.
LONDON - What a phenomenal trip this has been already, and we’re only one full day into it. It’s Saturday morning here now, and the famous London fog and rainy skies have made their first appearance since our arrival yesterday.
Friday was a whirlwind of a day. Getting to tour the city with some of the Pats cheerleaders, our Pat Patriot mascot, and former kicker (and Englishman) John Smith, among other guests, was a wonderful experience … and the weather was most cooperative for our picture-taking pursuits, as you can see from the above photo I snapped from the London Eye.

TOTALLY TUBE-ULAR - A subway entrance at Trafalgar Square.
Following the five hours of non-stop sightseeing and tourist to-dos, I went back to our posh hotel to try to meet up with Andy and Paul, from whom I’d been separated earlier in the day as they were assigned to cover Patriots practice and interviews (their fine work is on the blog and patriots.com, if you haven’t already read it). We must’ve just missed each other by a few minutes, though, so they spent the next few hours walking around London (yes, Paul actually walked … and I think it did him some good) looking for food and gifts to bring back home.
Meanwhile, I hit the town with some of our friends in the Pats PR department, and we ended up bumping into a few of our other friends and colleagues on the trip at a great English pub called The Audley, near our hotel in the Mayfair part of the city.
I must say, the food at The Audley was delicious … I’d been wary of British food in general, having been told numerous horror stories prior to this trip. However, Audley’s fare was excellent. And, I might add, so is the scenery in this town. Everywhere we look, there are spectacular blondes and brunettes carrying on with their irresistable accents. Paul and Andy noticed it, too (we finally crossed paths later last night).
Well, today is another action-packed one, what with flag football matches and the big UK Patriots Fan Club bash tonight at The Sports Cafe. Team PFW will be there at both events and, I’m sure, will have plenty of photos and stories to share come tomorrow.

A TOWERING SKYLINE - London's famous Tower Bridge, which leads directly to the Tower of London, as seen from our tour bus while crossing the equally renowned London Bridge (which, thankfully, wasn't falling down while we were on it).

Sorry to miss Troy Brown, but had a great day Saturday crossing Abbey Road with a couple Pats Camera guys who needed a fourth. Nothing like being in the stands listening to English explaining American football. Glad everybody liked the trip. Finally back in states with one more night in Penn before getting home to Ohio.
