Erik’s Extra Point: Tyree on a bad-luck streak

Written by Erik Scalavino on June 22, 2009 – 12:23 pm -

Did David Tyree make a deal with the devil? After making “The Catch” in Super Bowl XLII — and thereby helping shatter every Patriots fans dreams of a perfect 19-0 season – he hasn’t been back on the football field for the New York Giants. And his chances of being there in time for training camp have been dealt another blow.

According to a CBS Sportsline feature over the weekend, Tyree has suffered yet another setback in his attempt to come back from a season-ending knee surgery and subsequent hamstring injury he suffered last off-season. Tyree admitted in the story that he the process has been “frustrating” for him, as he watches other Giants receivers get valuable reps in his place.

So, yeah, he will go down in Super Bowl history for his still-can’t-believe-it play against New England, but he seems to have been paying the price ever since.

deal w/ the devil ???? nah- bet tyree would say he’d trade the injuries for having made the “Catch” and help win the Bowl any day of the week..wouldn’t you ???…

  2. Adam Says:

ummmm bryce, that would be a deal with the devil if he traded the injuries for the catch. David tyree is a joke, he is more valuable to the giants not playing. what a joke of a catch and a joke of an outcome and a joke Asante Samuel was if u watch that replay to stop when he could have come and run through him while Harrison was making contact with him. JOKE

ummmm Adam-Coulda- shouda -woulda = no ring…how does that equate to a joke ???!!!!-sensing hostility because your boyz harrison and samuel whiffed on that play….Harrison said he did all he could to “stop” Tyree and then admitted it was a “phenominal catch”-really-no joke….

I feel nothing for this guy. I know we aren’t ’suppose’ to cheer for injuries which i’m not, but i feel nothing.

Remember this: tyree caught the TD strike Manning threaded in [just ahead of Samuel who was going for the pick ]…guy was no question on that nite..
