Wilfork watching Tiger!

Written by Andy Hart on June 18, 2009 – 11:44 am -

The 109th U.S. Open kicked off this morning at Bethpage State Park (Black Course) in Farmingdale, N.Y.

While that’s big news in many circles, you’re probably wondering why it’s worth a post on a Patriots-related blog.

Why? Because Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork is in New York for the big golf event this weekend. Wilfork, who got into the golf mood at the Patriots Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament last weekend, apparently got the trip as a Father’s Day gift from his kids. He sent out a tweet about it from his Twitter account on Tuesday.

“wow… what a fathers day gift…. a week at the US Open…. can’t wait to see Tiger….. thanks babes,” Wilfork wrote from his Wilfork75 Twitter account.

Wondering if he’s like the rest of the world and will be following Tiger Woods’ each and every move? I bet Wilfork is more cerebral than that!

As for me, I couldn’t root against Tiger any more. Can’t stand him. Too bad I’m sure he’ll be in the mix on Sunday on this longer-than-long course. Boo, Tiger! Boo! I hope Vince takes a picture of you right in the middle of your backswing. Bet you won’t be man enough to glare at him like you do most fans and photogs. Probably won’t even send your caddy to chastise him!

I was a great fan of Mr. Hart until this post. I thought you were one to admire the pursuit of Perfection. After reading this post, I was horrified to see a Patriots writer stooping so low to attack one of the greatest sports icons. Tiger is like the Patriots organization as he strives for perfection. Patriots fans and writers should never stoop so low to actually boo a person who is the best in his game as the Patriots are the best in their game.
