We’re now in 7-on-7, and Randy Moss just took Terrence Wheatley to school again. The rookie had as tight a coverage as you can get away with in this league, but the 6-4 Moss just out-positioned him on a deep pass from Brady down the right sideline. The play brought the crowd to its feet, as Moss made a great effort to keep both feet in bounds after snagging the ball.

On the next play, Brady was picked by veteran corner Fernando Bryant. It was hard to tell from this angle, but either the pass was overthrown or it could have been tipped.

Veterans Wesley Britt and Billy Yates and manning the right tackle and guard spots, respectively, with the first offense in 2-minute work right now, in place of the usual starters Nick Kaczur and Stephen Neal (both on PUP).

After one particular pass, Brady charged after LB Adalius Thomas and head-butted him, not in a friendly way, it seemed. But nothing much came of the incident, but it took every spectator by surprise, including those of us in the media tent.

The offense is starting from their own 20, going out. The second teamers are now in, with Cassel at QB.

Full squad scrimmaging now. Again, the O is focused on running the ball. On defense, Bruschi and Tank Williams were at inside linebacker with the first unit. Mayo has not seen action thus far in this particular portion of practice.

The team just concluded a 45-minute walk-through practice. Players wore shorts, no helmets or pads.

Eight players not present for Sunday’s session included WR Kelley Washington, CB Ellis Hobbs, G Stephen Neal, OL Oliver Ross, TE Benjamin Watson, LB Bo Ruud, DL Jarvis Green, and DL Mike Wright.

Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker was present and participated in the walk-through.

My apologies for the lack of blogging this afternoon. I was obviously all set up at the start of practice and had a grand total of one entry under my belt when my laptop made a blastoff sound and shut down for the duration of the workout. My guess is it was battery related since as I’ve returned to my desk with power it seems to be running fine. Anyway, that is why the blogs stopped abruptly. But I’ve posted a full update on Patriots.com for anyone who’s actually wasting time on such a glorious day. Thanks, and once again, my apologies.
