All for now …

Well, looks like that does it for today’s workout. The players will be speaking in a minute, so look for some of that material later today on Patriots.com.

Stupendous catch by Stupar again

Written by Erik Scalavino on May 3, 2008 – 11:16 am -

The O’Connell-to-Stupar connection made another great play, almost the exact same throw, only this time in 7-on-7. Stupar, by the way, is the nephew of former NFL QB Jeff Hostetler.

On a side note, the QB does seem to have a little trouble making the short throws, not unlike former Pats QB Drew Bledsoe (I can hear Perillo whining all the way from Peabody).

One-on-one passing

Written by Erik Scalavino on May 3, 2008 – 11:06 am -

O’Connell’s zipping his passes in there. Looks much sharper than a day ago. Many of his receivers, however, are having trouble holding on to the ball, for some reason.

LB Jerod Mayo got beat in a matchup with a running back and was made to do it over again.

RB 32, who showed nice hands in earlier drills, isn’t doing so well in the one-on-one work.

O’Connell just launched a perfect strike to TE Jonathan Stupar down the middle of the field, over the head of a trailing defender. Great throw and a great catch.

Kick returners

Written by Erik Scalavino on May 3, 2008 – 10:59 am -

Wow, Wheatley’s fast! We noted this yesterday, but it’s worth revisiting. He showed off that speed running a kickoff back just now. Slater got a rep in, too, as did CB Jonathan Wilhite.

O’Connell’s throwing to receivers who are one-on-one with DBs now….

Number 11 … not so decent

Written by Erik Scalavino on May 3, 2008 – 10:54 am -

After a good showing on Friday, the tryout WR wearing # 11 has dropped a few catchable passes today. QB Kevin O’Connell, conversely, is looking more relaxed today, and his throws so far reflect that. He’s more on target today than yesterday.

Kickoff return team is coming up, and Slater is in the rotation again, with CB Terrence Wheatley in there as well.
