Ruud awakening

The Patriots final selection of the weekend, Nebraska LB Bo Ruud is a bloodline pick. He’s the sixth Ruud to play for the Cornhuskers and his brother, Barrett, is a current member of the Bucs. Bo started the last three seasons for Nebraska. He earned All-Big 12 honors in 2006. He was rated well down the list of undrafted free agents, but apparently the Pats thought more of him. (Much like they did with a few of their other picks.) He’s a student of the game and watches film nonstop. My guess is that will endear him to BB. But I still think he has limited skills and will face an uphill battle to make the roster.

    Thank You.

The LB depth chart has gone from barren to over-stocked.

Ruud now faces long odds to make the roster, behind the experienced veterans and the higher-rated rookies. Similarly, Slater’s return ability sits behind Hobbs, Wheatley, Wilhite, and several others.

Meanwhile, tight end is pretty thin, and, shockingly, the Pats have passed on all the tight ends.

Very pleased with the first several picks, but these really surprise me.

    Barret to Denver, how disappointing.

  4. Lloyd Braun Says:

Ruud looks like a PS’er for a year or 2.

I am laughing out loud. I am listening to Bill’s presser and when Tomase asked him a question about O’Connell he basically told him to pay attention. He gave him nothing! Haha! When will the Herald relieve this guy of his duties!

  6. Will Says:

Jaime Silva or Jolon Dunbar as undrafted free agents?

Got 3 LB, 2 Corners, not bad. And perhaps a very good QB. Oh, anda KR!!!

    Awsome job,guys!!!

I’m not sure what this guy has that a half dozen other LBs didn’t. I’m really struggling with this draft, guys. But c’est la vie.

On the plus side, there are several solid LBs that are still around. I’m particularly intrigued by Wesley Woodyard, who probably projects as a safety at the next round, but will need to work on flipping his hips better as he’s a little stiff for deep coverage. Nonetheless, he’s extremely fast and had over three hundred tackles in college. I’m fascinated by his potential.

Also, what happened to Ali Highsmith? I’m surprised he hasn’t been drafted. Justin Forsett still hasn’t been drafted either, and I recall that PFW said he could be groomed to become Faulk’s backup. Are there any other players that you at PFW are looking at? I’m not as familiar with the remaining players.

I also find Woodyard intriguing as a SS prospect, but I was more interested by Caleb Campbell - then the $%#*& LIONS got him! Millen must’ve been snockered to make such a decent pick this late.

the pats need to sign kenny cattouse the rb from troy. he would be the perfect fit to take over for kevin faulk. new jerseys all time leading rusher, a bruiser and catches the ball all day long.

What a draft! I’m pretty content with our picks, great decisions by Belichick & Pioli!

  12. Cody Says:

could have had dan connor a little earlier……pathetic

I don’t get it. I thought they started out strong but I wasn’t impressed with some of thier 2nd day picks. Seemed like there was better talent available in spots they went. I know BB is a genius and in Bill we trust etc etc. But he has not been the draft wizard people make him out to be. He’s an unbelievable coach but great drafter? I’m not sold.
