Silva talked with Pats

BC safey/punt returnerĀ and former Rhode Island high school star Jamie Silva just concluded his media interview, and he acknowledged that he has had some preliminary discussions with New England.

Silva wasn’t heavily recruited, as is the case with most RI high school football players. Only BC and Indiana gave him scholarship offers at the D-I level. He might have the same uphill battle to fight in the NFL, but he’s worth keeping tabs on. The underestimated players often find a way to overachieve at the next level. He could be one of them.

As a person, he came across as a humble, likeable guy.

I love this guy! He’s not big or fast but, this guy is a player. I think he’ll be better than Wilson. I would love to see the Pats draft this guy, although it may spell the end for “Bubba Ventrone”.

Silva isn’t any smaller than Sanders, and he has plenty of game speed for a safety. I watched BC all year, and he was awesome. Not only does he make plays against the pass, he is great in run support. He has no restraint when tackling. He is part of the reason that the run D was so good. He will be a god on ST, and he will be an excellent backup for Merriweather and Sanders. He is versatile enough to play either safety position, which BB likes. He would be great value for how low he will go.

I just don’t see it. I think he’ll be lucky to get drafted. He’ll be cut by his first team, and at some point he might fill out a roster as a ST ace. Ever hear of Vinny Ciurciu? Same guy. Don’t get me wrong, that’s not a bad thing to be, but that’s about it.
