worst Super Bowl ever played and there isn’t even a close second. Just an awful display of football by both teams. It is what it is.

February 3, 2008 at 10:05 pm
I can see the Pats losing at this rate but the Giants don’t look much better. Where’s the passion on either side?
February 3, 2008 at 10:07 pm
Karmic debt for the resurrection of “Baloneygate”? Good a theory as any at this point.
February 3, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I’m telling you it’s the red sweatshirt on BB
February 3, 2008 at 10:13 pm
I disagree Tom. I haven’t seen a lot of sloppy play from the offenses (ie-dropped passes, fumbles etc.). I think the defenses are playing very well. With that being said, the Giants are really outplaying the Pats and they deserve to win if they can hang on.
February 3, 2008 at 10:23 pm
It’s just too much for the Pats.
The Giants D is head and shoulders above the Pats O and the Pats D is barely hanging on.
The Giamts will get the O going here as the 4th winds down and we’re done.
Shame. It was a great season. I was really hoping for it to end 19-0. 18-1 is going to be rubbed in our faces for years. The Dolphins are already popping the Champagne and all the Pats haters are getting ready to say we got we deserved because of Spygate.
Like I always said as a Red Sox fan-Wait till next year………………
February 3, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Tom, right as usual. Dang.
February 3, 2008 at 10:23 pm
Paul may be giving the nod soon, but not the one we all want to see.
February 3, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Nice Special Teams action from your boy Ventrone!
February 3, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Ventrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooone!
February 3, 2008 at 11:10 pm
The team that played better today won.
I know, “really profound analysis,” but as you know that is why they play the games. You have to perform. The Patriots did not. They had more than enough chances.
Congratulations to the Giants.
–J.D.
February 3, 2008 at 11:19 pm
i don’t want any of the defense back next year , that was pathetic , samuel can go get his money and hobbs needs to be cut (unless all he wants to do is return kickoffs)
February 3, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Cheating makes it easier doen’t it?
February 3, 2008 at 11:35 pm
As one New England fan wrote in to a Pittsburgh newspaper in Dec. 2004 after the Patriots won the AFC championship game : “How’s your 15-1 season now ? ”
Here’s back at you with love from Pittsburgh–” How’s your 18-0 season feel now? “
February 3, 2008 at 11:39 pm
Unfortunatly, i agree Horrible game exspecially by the Pats. We will get them next year.
February 3, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Everything that could have been good for the NFL happened today. The bullies and cheaters of the NFL got there butts handed to them. Bill Belicheck did everything he could to shove the undefeated down everybody’s throat and run up scores on a bunch of teams, turnabout is foreplay, Now they go down as the worst dynasty in their decade behind the 70’s Steelers, 80’s 49er’s and 90’s cowboys.
February 3, 2008 at 11:42 pm
New England’s offensive line laid a GIANT egg
February 3, 2008 at 11:53 pm
Dear Bill Belichick, i think you should trade Ellis Hobbs. He is the reason why the Pats lost the super bowl game. Every time the ball is thrown in the air, he slips or falls and there are bad results after the play. I like the guy and all but he just caused the Pats the super bowl.
February 3, 2008 at 11:54 pm
HEY BRADY……..CHOKE, CHOKE, CHOKE……..you suck more than BABY MANNING!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4, 2008 at 12:14 am
I may have actually lost years off of my life.
The line couldn’t protect, Maroney couldn’t run, and Ellis Hobbs can’t cover anybody. I agree with the earlier comment. Where was the passion?
February 4, 2008 at 12:16 am
worst 18 win team of all time
February 4, 2008 at 12:22 am
Patriots rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wats up guysit seemed like u didnt want to play anymore so you guys just gave up, wats up with that! And Tom Brady (HOTTIE!) wat was going on you were showing no effort! You just got mad about silly little things and I believed in you! I look up to you!
February 4, 2008 at 12:27 am
TOM BRADY DID HIS JOB TONIGHT LIKE THE GREAT QB HE IS-NE DEFENSE LOST THE GAME- TOM DID EXCEPTIONAL CONSIDERING HE HAS ALMOST NO PROTECTION-NY JUST WANTED IT MORE AND IT SHOWED. TOM WILL ALWAYS BE A BETTER QB THAN ELI…..
February 4, 2008 at 12:34 am
biggest choke job in nfl history
February 4, 2008 at 12:36 am
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Patriots lose. Too bad. Couldn’t close the deal. Dolphins still the only undefeated team in history. BOOHOO Belichick!
February 4, 2008 at 1:03 am
Karma finally caught the cheating pats they are superbowl chumps!!!! belicheat doesn’t have video on giant’s . so taste it pat’s fans!!!! ha ha ha ha 18-1!!!! ha ha ha ha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4, 2008 at 1:17 am
At this point im disappointed for two main players on the patriots, Wes Welker and Tom brady. On the other side of the ball i was disgusted by the play of Randall Gay and Ellis Hobbs even with that int. he got which would have been a complete pass had a good receiver been on the other end of it.
February 4, 2008 at 1:18 am
I think I speak for everyone that wasn’t on this lame Pats bandwagon. Yesssssssssssss! What a game! Some of my superstitous friends are even already calling it karma for spygate. When Goodell fails to punish (and truly investigate), God and/or the cosmic forces of the universe will instead! What is the saying? - “Better luck next year.” What pushed me over the edge was seeing Pats fans at their home meeting against the Jets referring to Mangini as a rat. As if that was the issue and not that your team cheated! Of course there will be those who complain about the Pats poor performance on offense rather than looking at the incredible play of the Giants defense.
February 4, 2008 at 1:18 am
I agree with Janet. I was saying that all game. Why the heck did BB decide for THIS game to all of a sudden change his shirt????? He jinxed them!!
February 4, 2008 at 1:30 am
Sorry Goddel could not hellp you this time..
February 4, 2008 at 1:36 am
Maybe Bill should have saved some wear and tear on his guys instead of running up scores all year. The Pats were looking tired towards the end of the season and continued to look tired in the SB. Maybe he isn’t as genius as you think.
February 4, 2008 at 1:41 am
Well this really sucks, and I am so not happy that the Patriots lost this season ender. I am so shock that, my mind is numb. I can’t even comprehend this huge loss for the Pats. I know there is always next season, but this one goes down in history in on so many levels: last year Payton ended Brady’s chance of a Super Bowl and this year his younger bro, took the super bowl right out of Brady’s hands. But wait, I don’t even have to tell you the rest of the story cause you already know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 4, 2008 at 1:53 am
I think they all played hard, pats just came up short on QB protection that cost the game. been a pats fan since the 80’s. with all the pounding Brady got ,you have to give him credit for what he did do, but Giants earned the win.
February 4, 2008 at 2:20 am
Wow! All you Patriots fans, what do you have to say? You guys when into the Super Bowl week talking all that talk. What happened? You guys are now consider LOSERS and oh we can’t forget CHEATERS! NY Giants winners of Super Bowl 42! Yes. Tom Brady needs to keep his mouth shut!
February 4, 2008 at 2:33 am
18 huge wins one GIANT loss. Love it now more spygate stuff and remember faith and destiny are nothing but strippers at the foxxy lady
February 4, 2008 at 2:59 am
WAAAAAH HAAAAAAAA WAAAAAAAAHHHHH HA HA
February 4, 2008 at 5:09 am
Is that all you non Patriot fans have to hang onto, the cheating thing. Get over it already, it didn’t matter anyway because the Patriots proved that they don’t have to cheat to be the great team that they are. I will say this about the Giants though, Eli came through and showed that he is a better quarterback then his cry baby brother. That goes out to all you Colts fans. Enjoy.
February 4, 2008 at 6:45 am
I suppose it was inevitable that the Pats-haters came rushing out to gloat but the Pats gave them just cause. The Giants owned the O-line all night, giving Tom no time to settle and taking away the Pats’ main weapon - something we’ve done to other teams all season.
That meant the defense had to step up, something they’ve not really needed to do all year as the offense has carried the team. They certainly couldn’t raise their game against a larger and, more importantly, younger Giants offense that used the clock very well indeed. The Pats’ shoulders were dropping quite early on - body language all night looked negative - and, I think, by the time the Giants made their game-winning drive the defense were just plain knackered.
The Giants were more determined, more disciplined and better-coached than the Pats were, no doubt about it. I can happily congratulate the Giants for their performance but, even as a Pats fan since 1985, I find it very hard to sympathise with my team on last night’s performance.
February 4, 2008 at 7:21 am
May aswell cut Gostokowski.Bill had no confidence that he could make a 49 yard feild goal in a DOME…
Lets face it Bill was outcoached and the patriots were outplayed
Dallas Cowboys superbowl champs 09! ! !
February 4, 2008 at 8:36 am
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
How ya feeling today Pats fans???
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
February 4, 2008 at 10:03 am
Well. Sigh… We let another get away. It happens. Where do we go from here? Lots of changes you all know. 1) Harrison,Seau and Brusci may retire. 2)Assante Samuels will walk fior more $$ than he deserves. I agree Hobbs is gone too. Love him and his fire but he doesn’t have it except for spec teams. That’s 5 on D. Now say goodbye to Donte Stallsworth. He was a rental and wants more $$. Moss? Depends what you pay him. Hey we didn’t win and I never saw him jump for that pass down the middle in the 4th. He leaps with the two defenders, He CATCHES it! He’s tall but has he forgot how to jump? Maroney??? Quietist RB stats I ever seen. Jekel and Hyde. He’s no Cory Dillion. We drafted him over Joseph Addi (Colts). Izzo-Love him! Special teams master-also up there in age. All these people could be gone. We need a hell of a draft and the check book will have to be wide open. Oh and when is Brady going to get the surgery he needs? YOU KNOW somethings up.
Best Regards
David
February 4, 2008 at 10:05 am
Enough with Ellis Hobbs. He is what he is, Samuel should have been on Burress. But this isn’t the bigger issue. The both the O-line and D-line got WORKED OVER. Where were the three pro-bowl O-linemen, Matt Light was so jumpy from getting beat like a drum by Umenyora. The defense actually did an okay job, other than of course the last drive. You couldn’t expect for the defenses of both teams to keep up the pressure for the entire game, the offenses needed to help the defenses. And unfortunatly the Giants offense came to the rescue.
Great defensive gameplan by the Giants, BB got outcoached in this one. GO FOR IT ON 4TH AND 12????? This is truly a slice of humble pie in which BB himself needs to share along with the O-line.
February 4, 2008 at 10:21 am
Well,
For all you idiots that think the defense didn’t do its job….umm, were you watching the same game I was? Hobbs got burned but I think he was told to watch the run. Hobbs didn’t lose the game for the Patriots. THEY ALL LOST.
The Offensive line was atrocious, and the officiating was non-existant at times (except of course when the Pats flinched on the line or “held” on a kick off return).
The Giants played like studs. They deserve this win. IMO we need to get Sammy Morris healthy, retool the O-line or change the blocking schemes up, and retain Samuel if possible.
Like it or not pinheads, the Patriots are here to stay. They will be in the hunt while Miami is searching for its identity. I wonder how many “Giants” fans are actually whining San Diego fans out there.
Oh, and Spygate? That was over after the first SEVEN MINUTES of the first game, and no one even got to use the tape…if that’s why the Patriots are winning, then how do you explain the next 17 wins? Luck? Spy satellites? Referee payoffs? What? I don’t hear you?
THE PATRIOTS ARE THE CREAM OF THE CROP, they just had a bad game at the wrong time.
See all you whiners next year when we once again whoop your team’s collective a**es.
February 4, 2008 at 10:31 am
I am amazed at the lack of sportspersonlike commentary on this site. The reason it’s called a “game” is because it’s a competition. After a very long, hard, brilliant season, unfortunately the Patriots lost. They did not lose for lack of hard work, heart or effort. They lost because the Giants, in those 4 quarters, played a slightly better game than the Pats. Was it one of the better games (on either side) we’ve ever seen, with quick crisp passes and consistent plays moving the ball down the field? No.
But c’mon people, this is New England and we support our teams (and our fellow New Englanders) through good and bad.
To the New England Patriots, congratulations on winning 18 straight games. I’m sorry you lost the Super Bowl, but given the heart your team has, you will, no doubt, be harder on yourselves than any of these “fairweather fans.”.
February 4, 2008 at 10:51 am
The Giants have to go down as one of the most mediocre teams to win a Super Bowl, I had the misfortune of seeing them ‘play’ at Wembley, although that said credit to them for spoiling what should have been such a historic day for the Pats and the NFL record book.
Whilst they may own this year’s Lombardi trophy when it’s all said and done the 3 best teams in the league are the Pats, Colts and Chargers - the NFC still doesn’t really come close, and I’m a Redskins fan.
It’s a real shame the Patriots couldn’t pull this one off, if just to shut Shula and the rest of the old timer Dolphins up - 07 Pats are still the greatest NFL team of all time in my mind.
Giants front four deserved MVP, Eli got it on the basis of the Houdini play and Tyree’s circus catch, if there was a LVP award would have to go to Dean Pees, Pats D coordinator - Hobbs one on one against Burress 13 yards out, 40 seconds to go - what the hell?
February 4, 2008 at 11:14 am
WOW !!! THE BETTER TEAM DOES’NT ALWAYS WIN , WHAT A PERFECT EXAMPLE. N.E. DEFENSE NEEDS AN OVERHAUL. LOOKED OLD OUT THERE. DONT WORRY PATS NATION, 7TH PICK IN THE DRAFT SHOULD FETCH A PRETTY DECENT PLAYER. *************************************************************
February 4, 2008 at 11:27 am
Now all you PATS fans will have to give NFC East Division the respect they have earned. The giants play in the toughest division in football. the NFC East. So every week there is a tough game for them and the Cowboys. The Pats play in one of or may be the weakest division in all of football, so they had it pretty easy all year long. The Teams that gave them the most trouble comes from hard hitting defenses like the giant, cowboys, eagles, and redskins, and ravens. They are lucky that Dallas was not facing them yesterday. Dallas would have blown them out. Recognize, when the Cowboys or the Giants go to the superbowl, they win them and it doesn’t matter who the AFC sends to play them. Dallas wins and now the Giants win!. Until you prove otherwise Pats, don’t come to the superbowl when the Cowboys or Giants are in it!
February 4, 2008 at 11:51 am
Brady just can beat a Manning when it counts!!!! Go Eli and Big Bro.
February 4, 2008 at 11:54 am
What happened to the offensive game plan? They should have been prepared for the attack on Brady, which was talked about all week. What a disappointment.
February 4, 2008 at 12:26 pm
I didn’t see anyone choke, what I saw was the Giants outplay the Pats from the opening gun until the last minute of the game. The Patriots couldn’t get it going, but that was as much (or more) to do with the Giants D as it was the lack of performance by the Patriots. To say it was a choke job or anything of the kind is taking away something from the Giants’ performance, and while it pains me to say so, the Giants were the better team. Maybe play that same game again tonight and it’s a different result, who knows, but for the one that counted, the Patriots were simply beaten down by a better, more determined Giants team.
Congratulations to any Giants fans out there. I hope the Patriots can get it together again next year, and not become one of the teams that goes through a huge slump (Rams, Raiders, Bears) after a tough SB loss…
February 4, 2008 at 12:49 pm
I don’t get why there are so many Patriots haters visiting a Patriots blog.
To all the Dolphins fans who posted here: Your team was 1-15!!!! HAHA
To all the Colts fans who posted here: Your team lost to a banged up Chargers team AT HOME! And… E-li’s Be-tter CLAP CLAP, CLAP CLAP CLAP
To all the Giants fans who posted here: Congrats on your win, but just remember that karma sucks.
February 4, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Why was the coach not wearing his usual grey sweatshirt - what’s with the brand new red one!????? - that was the reason they lost - plus the Giants had a great defense.
February 4, 2008 at 1:33 pm
The pats choked big time, and made the top 5 in SB losses,at least i can say my niners go in super bowls and win!
February 4, 2008 at 1:36 pm
I feel bad for all you Pats fans, I know what it feels like to watch your team lose a superbowl. But in a way I am also happy for you, with spygate and the way the team was running up the scores this year I think that the perfect season would have been tarnished anyway. Better luck next year. Hopefully your organization starts bringing in younger players or you guys are gonna end up like the Yankees of pro football.
February 4, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Bradshaw
Montana
Tom Who?
February 4, 2008 at 2:28 pm
I did not see any fire in the Pats eyes, but it seems both sides had trouble. I think the offense let Tom down and the defense got tired quick.
I still believe in them as a team and think they will be back. I was sad for Junior, Tedy, and Rodney…they looked drained. I look forward to next year….Go Pats !! As always, nice to see such maturity in the blogs !!
February 4, 2008 at 3:27 pm
I don’t know what’s more pathetic - Ellis Hobbs in protection or the losers who log onto a Pats Blog and slam the Patriots Fans. What a bunch of losers. Get a life. You’re worse babies than Mercury Morris!
Tom Brady is the best QB in the history of the game (tied 1a and 1b with Joe Montana). ‘Nuff said.
February 4, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Where have all these haters been throughout the season, when the Pats were still undefeated? Real brave you all of you, finally coming out once the Pats finally lose.
Congratulations to the Giants, they are the better team. This will take quite a long time to get over, and it’s going to be a long year (GO CELTICS!).
February 4, 2008 at 4:01 pm
all you people that call the Pat’s cheaters are forgeting that all the teams record the plays. The Pats just happened to get caught. The Giants won the game because they played better.
Where was Tom’s protection? The Giants ran in on him just about every play. It made me sick. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. All season the Pat’s excell with a passing game and then… then.. they change up to a running game in the Super
Bowl. Congratulations Pat’s, you still won more games in a row than any other team in history. I’m proud of you guys for that.
February 4, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Gotta say two things Bill you screwed the Pats rep with your cheatin and the Giants now know to trade Shockey
Pete
February 4, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Owned.
February 4, 2008 at 4:27 pm
hahahahahahahahahahahaha……2007 new york giants d-line best ever…hahahahahahahahaha god i love this game
February 4, 2008 at 5:05 pm
As a Dad who is not a celebrity, not a millionaire, not a famous sports hero I am, however, a Dad. A Dad who likes to teach his kids how to be honest, respectful and learn how to be fair sports. That is the beauty of organized sports, and football in general. The coach as “father-figure”, the team as “the family”, all working together, in unity to achieve a desired goal. USUALLY that is the way it works until the end of the game last night. What I saw was pathetic, and I am not talking about the game itself, I am talking about Coach Belichick basically running and hiding BEFORE the game was even over. My 10 year old son noticed this immediately and said that “if I left my game before it was over I would be in big trouble” AND then asked “is the coach running to hide because he lost”?….What??? What kind of message are we sending to our kids???? These are our kids’ role models?? What a crock. The PAtriots and the owner should be ashamed of this behavior! I guess it goes to prove the old maxim right, “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen”….and Belichick must have sensed a 4 alarm fire, too bad he didn’t stop to see who he left behind….SAD
February 4, 2008 at 5:32 pm
Just like several games this season, a couple of key plays made the difference, this time we didn’t make them. Asante had the pick on the final drive but took his eyes off the ball. If Randy would have gone UP for the ball on the 1st hail-marry instead of trying to keep running, he could have set up the tying field goal. B B even blew it on the 4th and 13 call early in the 2nd half instead of just going for 3. The Giant’s Def Line pushed the pocket all day and made it tough for Tom. What that adds up to is the greatest loss in Pats history, hard to swallow but it is what it is. Here is the good news… At least we will have less pressure on next season… can you imagine the size of the bullseye on our backs if we had won?
February 4, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I love these other fans talking about the Pats. I think we had a great year that could have been historic. Unless you are a Giants fan, you are still looking up at the Pats. Sorry, but it is reality. Three rings in the decade, so far, isn’t bad. Who else can say that? I disagree with the notion that the Pats chocked. I thought they played a pretty good game. The Giants played better. They deserved to win. Nothing more than that. Go get ‘em next year!!
February 4, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Wow, lots of people not speaking rationally. Talking a lot of smack that isn’t factual. Hey, the Giants played a great game and deserved to win. I would have given the MVP to Matt Light (joke). Actaully, Eli shouldn’t have gotten it either Strahan or Osi. I can’t for the life of me figure out why in a close game you’d go for it on 4th and 13. Then with 45 seconds left in the 4th qtr. they leave the worst starting CB (Hobbs) 1 on 1 with one of the best WR’s in the NFL (Burress) from the 7 yd line. Was that a missed assignment or did the coaches blow it?
February 4, 2008 at 6:37 pm
From the AFC east Buffalo Bill’s fan- so you like to run up the score, but guess what what goes around comes around TAKE THAT BOSTON!!!
February 4, 2008 at 7:23 pm
the patriots received an old fashioned giants butt whippen
February 4, 2008 at 8:23 pm
I would like to give a shout out to THE BOYS….toomuch time off between games. It was evident that the offensive line couldn’t regain the, head banging, stamina that carried Tom Brady,in an ever so protected pocket for the 18-0 season. To play, balls to the wall , football all season and then have all that time off before the BIG game was clearly something that made the it almost impossible for the team to regain their focus & admirable drive for the game. THANKS forthe GREAT SEASON…we’ll see you next year…………
February 4, 2008 at 8:25 pm
the only thing that makes me feel better is the walking comb over , perillo , has to shave his fat head
February 4, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Not the best game but a perfect season and an AFC title. I was shocked at the loss and don’t want to be a backseat coach. New England sports have and continue to make this California transplant from Mass proud to be a New England Sports fan and proud to be from Mass.
Time to watch the Celts!
February 4, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Although the Patriots didn’t win last night, it was a pleasure watching this team play all year. The Giants defense came on strong last night, and proved they could stall the powerful NE offense. Hats off to them, but congratulations to the entire team for all their accomplishments!
Funny how a one-handed helmet catch turns the ‘Greatest Team in History’ into the ‘Greatest Choke in History’…try to keep it in perspective.
February 4, 2008 at 11:51 pm
Beyond any understanding. No Passion. No Adjustments. No Win. Were the Patriots watching the same game we were? They were in trouble from the starting series and didn’t react. Destiny is earned; not granted. To be that close to history and fail so miserably is beyond comprehension.
February 5, 2008 at 12:20 pm
wow, - lots of anger out there. just a food for thought….with a bad defense, with a broken brady…..we only lost by 3 points - 3 points - i’m so sick of all of you - this was by far the worst game the partriots played, and even at that, they almost won - oh i can’t wait for next year -
February 5, 2008 at 12:37 pm
Congrats Pats for the good game and for the memorable year. I dont think nobody can come close to 18-1 at this modern era. So I still give my hats off to the New England Patriots. Nobody is perfect. I think the media just stir up all the Perfection conversation. I still love Tom and the Pats whether they lose or win. I still stand by them. God Bless.
February 5, 2008 at 4:25 pm
‘Worst Super Bowl ever played and there isn’t even a close second. Just an awful display of football by both teams. It is what it is.’
The person who stated the above certainly DOES NOT understand the sport of football.
Superbowl 42 was a showcase of football at its best. Patriots did not win. That happens. Does not detract that this was an awesome game. But, you would have to be more than just a fan to see that.
February 5, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Hey all you idiots out there when is the last time your team went 18-1?
Patriots still RULE!
February 5, 2008 at 10:55 pm
After taking a couple of days to digest this whole disaster, it seems to me that the failure to use the running game was the main reason Brady hit the ground 30 times. They should have run the ball until they made it work. That was the only way they could have gotten the rush off Brady. One run , two passes and punt, is what killed them. Good basic, balanced football always shows up in the playoffs, and if you’re not balanced, you lose. A one dimensional passing game only works against a bad defense. And I think you could say the Giants have a pretty good defense.
Oh well, live by the sword and die by the sword. I don’t blame the players for this one, it’s totally a coaching failure. At the end of the game Brady was looking at his wristband cheatsheet for a play…probably because Josh McDaniels had a brainfreeze and Belichick was too busy drawing up defensive plays to notice.
February 6, 2008 at 12:08 am
Hey BB,
Take that. I didn’t even watch the game, I didn’t wanna see the smug sob if the Patsies won. Too bad, soo sad, 18 wins, one GIANT loss!
Go Colts!
February 6, 2008 at 5:52 am
I am absolutely heartbroken… =(
February 6, 2008 at 11:56 am
So what’s the difference between Joe Montana and Tom Brady, that’s right, Montana never lost one, 4-0, a mark that Brady can now never accomplish. The other difference was that Montana was a great leader that America loved, Brady is a crybaby primadonna that is hated pretty much everywhere outside of Boston. Maybe now the media will stop comparing the two of them after Brady’s meltdown. Plain and simple, the Giants battled with all their heart and the Pats expected a win to be served up to them on a silver platter…sorry, doesn’t work that way in the NFL. Also, Pats fans, quit crying about how the Giants BARELY beat you even with a poor performance by Brady. Who cares if the score was 2-0, you still lost and that’s all that matters, deal with it. You got what you deserved.
February 6, 2008 at 4:21 pm
HEY PAT FANS — SEND ME A COPY OF THAT PERFECT SEASON BOOK. THE GMEN ARE SIMPLY THE BEST–BETTER THAN ALL THE REST.
February 6, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Oh, Good Grief, everybody! I don’t see how the Patriots fans can feel down in the dumps, counting the last two pre=season games, they won twenty in a row. TWENTY! If you just want to count reg. season, then playoffs-it’s STILL EIGHTEEN!! That’s one more than the Dullfins did. Two things you Miami fans (and the sportswriters who keep bringing it up) NEGLECT TO MENTION: 1) There were only FOURTEEN games in regular season then. 2). At the time, they were in the WEAKEST DIVISION IN FOOTBALL, which meant how many games that year were virtual freebies?? Doesn’t take much to have a perfect season, IMO. So count your blessings, because only the sportswriters and the diehard Dullfins lovers, along with Plowin’ Patriots haters will not admit the Pats STILL beat the dolphins record, or at the very least, equalled it. And that’s coming from a Seahawks fan, so I had no dog in the hunt. I had hoped Favre would get there once more, but once the Pack lost, I was neutral. So There!!

As I’m sure the PFW boys would tell you, Disappointed Dad, if you are looking at Bill Belichick as a role model for your kids, you are looking in the wrong place. Bill is paid millions of dollars to win games, not to raise other people’s children on how to act after a dissapointing loss. While some public figures feel it is their place and obligation to act as a role model, it is not a requirement for all to do it. You can choose to like Belichick or not, and respect him or not, but the fact is he is one of the best coaches ever in the NFL, if not the best, and that doesn’t always translate into a great sport when you just give away a Super Bowl that they had every reason to think they should win…

To
atriot Fans,
There is nothing earthshaking about this SuperBowl’s result. New England whipped 18 teams without mercy pilling-up the score. The Giants paid them back in SPADES,
18-1 FOREVER. I cheered for New England in 2001 when they were the underdogs against the Rams. Lately, they were right down ARROGANT!!!Hence, Giants stumped them.
Best regards,

Please Frank,
The Giant are actually a fairly pathetic football team. They just got very lucky. The real shame is that the punk Eli has a superbowl ring. Do ya’ll remember Mr “if the Chargers draft me I won’t play for them” Manning. This child has no business in the NFL!

Hats off to the Pats. Took everything we had (and perhaps a little NYG magic) to beat ya in the end.
Great team, still a great season.

Maybe the loss will actually make them a better team. I hope at least it makes them a more humble team.

Most of the people on here are so childish. Why take your time to insult other people and rub salt in their wounds.
You Pats haters really need to grow up. What a bunch of ignorant children you are.

I just wanted to see if anyone knows if Matt Light will be leaving or not. I know he gets called for false starts but I still consider him my favortie tackle. OH and Wes Welker also needs to stay, he is pretty good for as short as his in that mess with all those bigger guys. I love my Patriots, I just hope they pick the right players to hold on and the right ones to let go.

As far as I am concerned there is no shame in losing when the winning team makes a play that borders on the miraculous. While the Giants’ defence and coaching was admirable, the Patriots’ defence was also very tenacious for most of the game. The only play that really sticks in my craw was the 13-yard completion by Steve Smith in the last winning drive. That’s very tough to watch over and over. People should remember that in the Dolphins’ perfect season, they lost the Super Bowl the year before. Personally I think the game of football was the ultimate winner, and I hope the same teams have a rematch in Tampa. That ought to be another great battle between two teams who match up against each other very evenly.

Anyone look at the still of the great escape by Eli?? Three face-masks and no flags???
Look everyone knows that the NFL did not want the Pats to win but really the lack of any calls at the end was just down right disgusting. Why Congress is investigating all this stuff why not look at what went on here?? there must have been millions of dollars involved…right up their alley.
