Babes in Scottsdale
So, I’m walking down North Scottsdale Road, in Old Town Scottsdale, with one of our team photographers, Keith Nordstrom. We were looking for some shots for the story I just posted on patriots.com about the happenings in and around town during Super Bowl week.
As we’re scoping out the scene, we hear two of the sweetest voices, in unison, ask ”Are you guys lost?”
We turn around to find these two gorgeous women, a blonde in the drivers seat and a brunette on the passengers side, smiling at us through the open window of their car, which was stopped at a traffic light.
Naturally, like sailors drawn to the Sirens, we approached them and started chatting. Apparently, they work for some outfit called the “Arizona Angels” (they have a website for anyone interested in learning more).
They asked us who we worked for, we said the Patriots, and they became even more interested in talking. They said they were headed to the PGA event a few miles down the road.
Just when things appeared to be going great, the damn traffic light turned green and they were on their way.
Should’ve said, “Yes, we’re lost. Can you give us a ride?”

Like you said on the show, They sound like “professionals”.

If they gave you a “ride” it would have cost you as much as one of your paintings.

Or you would be found the next morning, without your wallets, with your pants down your ankles, and a lot of angry e-mail regarding “why is there no show?!”
Then would come the message, “Jonathan Kraft is on line two. Something about an offer to buy negatives?”

I gotta throw the BS flag on that. Unless they thought you were lost becuase they don’t usually see 2 cork soakers walking around that part of town.

Did they have Adam’s Apples? Seems Eddie Murphy has a similar problem making such distinctions.

Even if this really happened, you should have kept it to yourself.

Sorry Erik, think they were ‘even more’ interested in talking to you because they want your…well not yours, but the company’s money!

I’m wondering why so many team and media members are staying in Scottsdale, which is quite a drive from the stadium in Glendale. Why not stay in Glendale, perhaps in the Arrowhead area, where one would not be far from the Superbowl? I understand that Scottsdale is where the very-high-class live, eat, etc. But the westside of Phoenix has grown so much and has so much to offer (just ask the many baseball teams that do their Spring Training on the westside). I read one Boston area reporter say that the stadium “is in the middle of nowhere” which is entirely untrue (Glendale has a population of about 700,000 people, and the western suburbs of Phoenix all together has near 2 million people, hardly in “nowhere”). Granted, it’s not in downtown and there are a few farm fields still holding on near the stadium, but all the hotels, restaurants, bars, malls, etc. that one could ask for are near the Stadium. So why stay so far away in Scottsdale?
I’ll also plug my two favorite restaurants: Lenny’s Burgers on 35th Ave and Thunderbird and The Pitts Again on Bell Rd near 55th Ave. Enjoy!
