As I watch this game I notice something missing: Talent. I’m not saying there aren’t any good players here but when the key to the game is handing the ball off to Peyton Hills, something is wrong. I see now why the USC players dominated all week in practice.
Nice play by Andre Woodson on the touchdown pass. Brad Cottam was his fourth read and he found him. Good patience in the pocket by Woodson on that play.

Hey Tom,
I was wondering what you think of Leodis McKelvin and Dominiqe Rogers-Cromartie. It seems like both had good weeks and Mayock won’t stop talking about how great McKelvin is. Also, if Samuel stays and the Patriots get another top corner in the draft, do think that will help cover up the lack of speed at linebacker since the safeties will be able to focus more on helping cover backs and tight ends? Thanks.

Tom,
Sorry to bother you again, but I remembered something else I wanted to ask. Now that it seems like Belichick has bought into the theory that offense wins games, could you see the Patriots using some first-day picks on that side of the ball? Is Malcolm Kelly good enough to get picked at 7? Also, do you think that the Patriots might try to find a tight end that can actually catch, possibly even in round 2? Finally, I’ve heard some trade rumors involving Roy Williams (the receiver) and Larry Fitzgerald (although those ones mainly involve Minnesota). I heard that the Lions might only want a 2nd rounder for Williams. I’d take that in a second. If Fitzgerald was available, I’d even give up the #7 pick. He’s a great player and he’s not even 25. What do you think?

Sean,
I don’t know a lot about those players yet. I watch a lot of college football but not enough of those schools to have a good feel for those players. When we get our prospect tapes in, I’ll have a better idea of what they are all about. I know a lot of people love McKlevin though.
If the Lions trade Roy Williams for a second round pick they should be kicked out of the NFL. It would be like a team trading Randy Moss for a fourth round pick. Could you ever imagine a team doing that?

Are you saying Matt Millon is smarter than Al Davis? That’s a toss up.

Are there any other junior QB’s other than Xavier Lee from F.S. the pats could target in the mid rounds or any round? Matt Ryan is rated as the #1 QB in most if not all draft boards that ive checked, any chance we could see Brennan in the 3rd or 4rth? I know They give up a second along with the first but maybe a #7 trade for a first next along with maybe a 2nd this year ala BB, could they be targeting an unknown quantity at qb somwhere? I guess my real question is wether they are content with what they got?? Joe Flacco would be an interesting choice…Im not to familiar with the BQ’s outside the projected top 5-6 Give an opinion of a sleeper for the Pats…great job with the pats web-sites

I would love the Pats to have to decide if A. Woodson could sneak out into the early mid 3rd rd…Does he have the smarts/can he handle whats needed in the Pats schemes? I would say in a few seasons he could be a difference maker..LAUGH if nothing else it would make 2009 Pats madden team a fun one…(assuming we can keep what we got)
