That’s all folks

July 31, 2007

Well, that’s pretty much all for today as the team is begining to wind down practice. I’ll be back tomorrow. There is only one scheduled practice (2:30-4:30) on Wednesday. You can also catch us tomorrow from 12-2 on PFW in Progress on Patriots.com. Thanks to everyone for checking in and have a good night.

Gaffney and Watson continues to shine

July 31, 2007

Jabar Gaffney made a nice catch on a 15-yard out route, with Ellis Hobbs draped all over him. Ben Watson is reminding everyone not to forget about him as he’s having a great day catching the football and making plays down the field.

Red zone work

July 31, 2007

In the red zone drills Ben Watson just caught a short pass and ran right over Eugene Wilson as he turned it upfield. The drive was completed by Brady hitting Randy Moss across the middle of the end zone for a touchdown. In the goal line drills, Tedy Bruschi rejoined Adalius Thomas on the inside. It looks like the team is just trying to get Junior Seau some work on the inside and giving the veteran Bruschi a breather from time-to-time.

The action is coming fast and furious

July 31, 2007

Ben Watson made a terrific diving catch in the middle of the field on a throw from Brady. Watson beat Adalius Thomas who actually had very good coverage on the play. By the way, Junior Seau and Thomas are still manning the inside during this drill.

Brady’s go-to receiver right now in camp is clearly Jabar Gaffney. The two can complete the out route pretty much any time they want to.

Reche Caldwell has reappeared. He just made a diving catch in between Tory James and James Sanders. Matt Cassel threw a pretty ball right where Caldwell was the only one who could come down with it. In this set, Tedy Bruschi is back inside along with Eric Alexander.

Here we go…

July 31, 2007

Full speed offense vs defense drills. I’ll keep you posted on all the action.

Hobbs pops Welker

July 31, 2007

Wes Welker caught a short pass from Matt Cassel and was popped by Ellis Hobbs. Welker fell to the ground but no harm was done.

Cassel threw a dart to Ben Watson in the back of the end zone for a score. Watson beat Eric Alexander on the play.

On the very next snap, Tom Brady connected with Jabar Gaffney for a scoring strike in almost the exact same spot. Gaffney beat Tory James for the TD reception.

Brady back in action

July 31, 2007

Just an FYI: Tom Brady is back on the field throwing darts. The team is doing 7-on-7 drills right now. I’ll post any highlights as they happen.

Maroney looks good

July 31, 2007

While he’s still wearing the red non-contact jersey, Laurence Maroney looks ready to go to me. He’s in good spirits - always joking with teammates - looks to have added some muscle this offseason and is showing a strong burst on the field. I have to believe that the team is holding him out as a precaution at this point. But it’s just a guess on my part because I’m not a doctor.

It was Tom Petty…

July 31, 2007

“Won’t back down” by Tom Petty was the next song for those wondering. Hey, not much to talk about during stretching.

Stretching to Bon Jovi

July 31, 2007

It looks like Bill Belichick picked today’s stretching music and God bless him. There’s nothing like jamming to “Living on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi. I can only hope this is followed by Poison or Guns ‘n Roses.
