Maroney taking it easy

June 6, 2007

While Maroney is here and in good spirits, he appears to be taking it easy today. So far, Maroney has been standing around without a helmet, joking with Rodney Harrison and Donte’ Stallworth between drills. It’s still possible Maroney will step it up as practice goes on but right now, it looks like he’s being eased back slowly.

Maroney Practicing

June 6, 2007

Running back Laurence Maroney is practicing on Wednesday after missing the first day of mini-camp. As of right now, there are still no signs of Richard Seymour. If we see him at any point, we’ll relay the information.

Greg Schiano in the house Wednesday

June 6, 2007

Rutgers Head Coach Greg Schiano will be present for Wednesday’s mini-camp practice. Schiano led the Scarlet Knights to an 11-2 record and 12th overall ranking last season. College coaches attending a Patriots practice is nothing new. In the past, Urban Meyer, Tom O’Brien, Al Groh, among others, have been seen roaming the Patriots sideline and addressing the team following practice. Could Schiano be the latest college coach to join the Bill Belichick pipeline? It’s possible. The man who rebuilt the Rutgers program has said on more than one occassion that he respects Belichick and the way he runs his football team.

What a difference a year makes

June 6, 2007

I was thinking that last year at this time we were watching John Stone take reps with the first team offense at receiver. A year later, I’m watching talented players like Reche Caldwell fight to get on the field. I know it’s early but this receiving corps has a chance to be really special if everyone stays healthy. Needless to say, the days of seeing John Stone and Keron Henry catch passes from Tom Brady are over.

We’ll be out at practice around 10:45 with live updates. Hopefully Ellis Hobbs will be a little bit easier to spot today.
