We’re back baby!
Starting on Tuesday, PFW will be posting all the action from Patriots mini-camp. We’ll let you know who is looking good and who is struggling over the next three days. While mini-camp isn’t the most important thing in the world, it was at this time last year that I saw Eric Warfield just didn’t have the instincts to play corner in the Patriots scheme. One player I’ll be keeping a close eye on this year is Eric Alexander. The young linebacker was visibly shaken in the locker room after the AFC Championship Game loss to the Colts. I will be interested to see if he’s shaken that off and if Alexander is ready to take that next step and play a larger role in the Patriots defense this season. Let us know some of the guys you will be keeping an eye on other than Brady, Moss, Harrison, etc. Football’s back, at least for the next three days, and then we have a two month break before things kick off again, so sit back and enjoy mini-camp.

I read last week that justise hairston was “explosive every time he touched the ball”. I’m sure you’ll be keeping a close eye on the rookies, but how about a close up report about Hairston. I’m still a little nervous about the running back situation and am wondering if he will be
a- a contributor,
b- practice squad material,
c-PUP/IR candidate or
d- Trianing Camp fodder.
I’ve read he has the size and speed but you guys are there and can see for yourselves so keep us in the loop
Thanks guys

Andy,
I didn’t write that about Harrison. I thought he struggled with his footwork and hands during rookie mini-camp, so I will be looking for improvement in those areas over the next three days. I’ll keep you updated.

Moss wore #6 at passing camp, but I haven’t seen any more regarding what his number will be, i.e., no Moss merchandise with a number on it & no number on the roster web page.
I’m sure he’s not happy that Stallworth has #18, but if he in fact does not have a number assigned at this point, are we looking at things to come, such as focusing on having things his way rather than the task at hand…winning football games?
I know, I probably broke the rules by asking a question about Moss, but I’m curious & hope you guys know what the story is. How sad it would be for something like that to derail what should be a very exciting and productive addition to the receiving corps.
Thanks, you guys are awesome as always!

Sorry about that Tom, I was refering the 5-31-07 article by Eric Scavalino(did I spell that right?) and after rereading it I see he actually said “Explosive when he carried the ball”, not “every time he touched” Do you suppose the Footwork & Hands issue could have been Nerves/excitment I hope so I still think we need RB help with Maroney’s injury history and now Morris in a No Contact Jersey. But theres always #33 and, Well its still real early….

Andy,
To be honest, I haven’t seen enough of Harrison to make a fair assessment yet. I do agree with you that the RB position is concerning when Maroney isn’t on the field. However, I’m not sure that Harrison is the answer at this stage in his career. My guess right now would be practice squad, but there’s still a long way to go.
